Norditropin NordiFlex contains a synthetic form of human growth hormone known as Somatropin, which is identical to the hormone naturally produced in the body. Growth hormone is essential for children's growth, and it is also important for adult health.
Norditropin NordiFlex is indicated for treating growth failure in children under the following conditions: if they have no or very low growth hormone production (growth hormone deficiency); if they have Turner syndrome (a genetic disorder that may hinder growth); if they have impaired kidney function; if they are shorter than expected and were small for their gestational age (SGA); or if they have Noonan syndrome (a genetic condition affecting growth).
In adults, Norditropin NordiFlex is used to supplement growth hormone in cases where production has decreased since childhood, or has been lost in adulthood due to a tumor, tumor treatment, or a condition affecting the gland responsible for growth hormone production. If you received treatment for growth hormone deficiency in childhood, you will be re-evaluated once you have completed your growth phase. If growth hormone deficiency is confirmed, you should continue with the treatment.
Avoid using Norditropin NordiFlex: if you're allergic to Somatropin, phenol, or any other components of Norditropin NordiFlex; if you have ever undergone a kidney transplant; if you have an active tumor (cancer). Tumors must be inactive, and you must have completed your antitumor treatment prior to beginning Norditropin NordiFlex; if you are suffering from an acute critical illness such as open heart surgery, abdominal surgery, multiple traumatic injuries, or acute respiratory failure; if you have finished growing (closed epiphyses) and do not have growth hormone deficiency.
Like all medications, Norditropin NordiFlex can have side effects, though not everyone may experience them.
Possible effects observed in children and adults (frequency unknown) include: rash; wheezing; swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips; complete collapse. These could indicate an allergic reaction. Other possible reactions include headaches, vision issues, nausea, and vomiting, which may indicate increased pressure in the brain. Serum thyroxine levels may decrease. Hyperglycemia
